Random Thoughts CSI:NY - Spoilers at bottom for s5

Like my icon implies, I gotta ask. Why do people assume Danny loves Lindsay?? Hell, why do people assume that he EVER loved her? *headdesk*

He's never said he does. He's never acted like he does. He never told her either time she's mentioned loving him. So, why in the hell would anybody assume Danny loves her and should tell her he slept with Rikki and grovel to win her back?

That's just freakin' insane AND it boggles my mind.

As I said in a post on TalkCSI, I've been spot on so far since Snow Day aired about the status of the DL mess. I have episode reviews in my journal where I called a bunch of things correctly. Here's a rundown of some of them.

1. Love Run Cold - Lindsay stands Danny up and NEVER gives him an explanation. When confronted in the hall later and Danny uses that dreaded chemistry line Lindsay jumps straight to 'relationship' telling Danny she can't have a relationship with him and Danny is shocked and informs her that he was only talking about dinner, drinks, and a few laughs (exactly what he got plus sex in Snow Day). Which implies Danny never intended to date Lindsay.

2. Snow Day - Sex on the pool table was a one night stand. It was obvious Danny never intended to have Lindsay in his bed since he went to the trouble of bringing pillows and a blanket to the pool table. *snort* Lindsay showed her clinginess again by telling Danny she had a dream he'd left. Loved his comeback and I don't think it was as much of a joke as he tried to make it look (Where would I go, it's my apartment.) I would take that as an insult but then again, I wouldn't be clingy like that.

3. Season 4 starts - Danny and Lindsay show absolutely NO signs of being together. In fact, Danny looked and acted annoyed with her throughout much of the season.

4. Boo - Shippy DL scenes were cut. Another indicator TPTB were shifting away from whatever they started with DL. And for the love of God, Danny did NOT call Lindsay 'honey'..not once. He also never rubbed or shoulder or anything of that nature.

5. Child's Play - Danny NEVER once went to Lindsay for comfort after Ruben died and never did.

6. All in the Family - Lindsay went to Flack about Danny not showing up to work. She didn't make any attempt to try to find him herself. Also, neither Flack nor Danny made any attempt to let her know when things were resolved. Danny called Rikki 'sweetheart' and it was so sweet and genuine. What's he ever called Lindsay besides 'Montana'? *rolls eyes*

7. Right Next Door - If you want further proof that sex on the pool table was just a one night stand, just take a look at this episode. The scene between Danny and Rikki was beautifully done and it showed just how much Danny cares for Rikki. It was sweet and tender AND the added bonus of Rikki coming out of Danny's bedroom wearing his shirt. Hmmm...Danny wanted Rikki in his bed but not Lindsay...what does that tell you? Also, Lindsay calling him - Danny had every right to tell Lindsay he was running errands that morning. He had no obligation to say: Sorry Lindsay but I'm spending the morning in bed with Rikki and I'm making her breakfast. *it would have been priceless though* Danny and Lindsay weren't together therefore he doesn't have to tell Lindsay squat. Was this the 'monologue of doom' episode? By the expression on his face, Danny clearly had NO idea that Lindsay thought of herself as his girlfriend or that she was in love with him.

8. Like Water For Murder - (I think it was this episode) Where Danny forgot Lindsay's birthday. I had to LMAO when he didn't really seem all that concerned about it. Why would he if he didn't think they were dating? It was a little lame for Danny to ask Lindsay over to watch Jaws. It was clear he was just trying to patch their friendship up. This is also the episode where Lindsay told Mac it was a stupid mistake to get involved with a co-worker.

9. Personal Foul - Danny/Flack at the basketball game instead of the original spoilers showing Danny and Lindsay. More proof DL never was. I'm convinced, just like others, that the DR and DL scenes were switched but either way, it doesn't really matter since Danny was visibly upset once Rikki said she was moving. For the record, Danny saying that it was a mistake was referring to them using sex to help with the pain. He never said they were a mistake. The phone call to Lindsay was lame but since you can plainly see the sugar bowl was blotted out, that shows me that he only called Lindsay because he was upset that Rikki left and he just wanted somebody else to ease his pain.

10. Spoilers for season 5 - The hint of a montage tells me DL is over. Like others have said, montages usually come at the end of things, mainly relationships. Rikki returning for as many as four episodes along with another guy catching Lindsay's eye. She said she needed to move on and it looks like she will. Danny taking a vacation could very well be to spend time with Rikki. I seriously doubt he's going away with Lindsay. The spoilers did say things would happen with Danny that didn't involve Lindsay.

Well, that's all I can think of right now. My brain is now mush.

I just take great pleasure in the fact that Carmine didn't even like that Danny did that. ^_^

I could also see Danny doing that for any of the rest of the team too. Also, Danny did pull away when she tried to kiss him.

I'm not some google-eyed DLer. If I saw something screwy, I'd point it out. You would know that, if you read that I agreed with a lot of what she said.

everything you've written here is just proof tht the DL relationship was one sided, Lindsay assumed they were boyfriend & girlfriend just cos they had sex...

i've used the hallway scene in arguments tht Danny wanted nothing serious, maybe just to see if something was there, since i seen it, but those DLers have it in their heads tht Danny meant relationship & Lindsay's the one tht uses tht word, not Danny. sure, he was a lil confused as to why she didn't show up, but who wouldn't be when she was sending out interest signals, at first..? i think this was the moment tht Danny realized something was a lil off with Ms. Monroe, too.

also, the argument of Danny going to Montana as a gesture of love is lame. he probably was worried about her, wanted to be her friend & could've called her just the same, but ya kno Danny, he does b4 he thinks, lol. i remember reading in an interview posted at Talk about how Carmine was very unhappy with tht storyline cos he felt like it was waayy too outta character to him. *shrug* DLers must've blocked tht paragraph out as well, hehe.

also, the scene b/t Flack & Lindsay when he brought her the Ruben paper, has annoyed me to no end since it aired. the look over Lindsay's face is not tht of concern, like Flack's is all thru the episode. no, Ms. Monroe has this look over her face like: "great. what dumb-ass thing has Danny done now...?" like, she just expects Danny to screw up. she can never just accept him for who he is!! just like she told him it was "hard to love him." WTF??

Blame that on the writers.

Mac is looking to see Danny screw up. He goes on impulse. On gut instinct.

Well ... there's Carmine Giovinazzo's statement in one of his interviews with CSI Files that Danny went solely as a FRIEND. That, coming from the guy who plays Danny on the show. Who would know Danny better than him?

So Danny may have cared for her, but it doesn't automatically mean it has to be romantic.

Now you're stepping away from love. Call it semantics if you want but, first it was love. Now it's a "deep caring in some way". If I asked my boyfriend if he loved me and he said he "deeply cared for me in some way" I wouldn't be making any wedding plans.

People do things that cannot be explained at the moment, and now I am talking about real life also. There are the moments when you have to think firstly about yourself, you know it and you still make a compromise just to help the other, but not because "oh noes! he went across the country so this must be love". No, Danny acted on an impulse and that led to what happened in Sleight Out of Hand. Let me tell you from real life experience, that if someone comes across the country to be with somebody else, it ain't love.

There is another thing that I want to ask you. I do not understand hoe after two seasons of being emotional around crime scenes with blood, around victims that Lindsay related to one way or another, right after Sleight Out of Hand, everything went back to normal. Lindsay was a normal person, with absolutely no memory of that event, it was like someone pressed shift+del and any recollection of that unfortunate event of her childhood was gone.

I've noticed that certain people seem to hear and see what they want, not what is on the screen right in front of us. *sigh*

I don't understand the argument that he went to Montana because he loves her. I've done things for friends before but it doesn't mean I want a relationship with them.

Yeah, Lindsay definitely seemed annoyed instead of concerned for Danny. Flack was certainly concerned.

D/L fails b/c of a lack of chemistry between Carmine and Anna, poor characterization and Anna's shitty acting. Reason enough for it to be gone, pls? :P

I agree with a lot of what you wrote. I'm a D/L fan and I never thought they were dating or in love. Like any ship, I want them together and it would be fun but I'm going to continue shipping even if they aren't together.

After Danny went to Montana, I was excited. I couldn't believe it. But after calming down and thinking about it. It was a form of support for Lindsay. Danny could've very well have been replaced by Mac or Stella. It was a way of showing how close the team is. Not necessarily an undying love.

After Snow Day, when lots of the D/L fans kept saying that D/L were together (that they had been since Danny's going to Montana), I had an opposite reaction. Ok, so they had sex. So what? Lots of people have sex and don't regret it. It doesn't automatically make them attached at the hip. Even less in love. It's sex. It happens.

Deer in the headlights. He looked completely clueless. It definitely seemed like it was something he hadn't seen coming.

I will only believe them as being together if at some point I see and hear it with my own eyes and ears. Till then I will ship them. there's not really much else to do.

And I really like Rikki. I like the storyline they brought in with her, Ruben and Danny. I think it worked amazingly well. I'm not going to dislike her because I like Lindsay or D/L.

I would have loved it if Stella had gone - honestly, having Danny go was a choice made for 'romance' at the expense of the rest of it. Stella had shown her support for Lindsay prior to her going to Montana - she's the first one Lindsay told, and since Stella doesn't have family of her own, I think it would have been great to see her show up and be Lindsay's 'family' at the trial.

Stella as a source of strength would have been more powerful than an ill-advised and questionable 'romantic' scene, IMO.

I too will believe DL is together if I see and hear it myself and I will accept it. I might not like the pairing but I will accept it and keep on shipping Danny with Flack. ;) Love your icon, btw. I have that. Actually, I have TONS of your icons. :D

I know I'm one of the only people around who actually likes Lindsay, lol. I'm not a D/L shipper or really any kind of shipper but I do agree with your point. I like the Rikki storyline, but I'm really hoping she doesn't come back pregnant in S5. That would make it too soap opera-esque, IMO.

But the Lindsay-announcing-she's-in-love part caught me off-guard. And I tend to only believe they're together when I see/hear it myself.

I'm on vicodin for wrist surgery so I apologize if I seem incoherent. I just wanted to pop in and say I agree and excellent way of putting your opinion. :)

PS- I love your icons! I've seen them around LJ.

I read the entire post, and I agree with everything. I don't think Danny and Lindsay were ever together. It just isn't supported in any part of the show. I mean, you'd think if they were supposed to be "in a relationship" that TPTB would write something to convince us that it actually happened.

In all honesty, I prefer Danny with Rikki. They were really cute together and it just made me happy watching their scenes. ^-^

B.T.W. I tried to read all the comments... I haven't made it completely through it yet, but I'm going to keep reading. It's really funny with all the banter going on between djgoddess1 and everyone else :P Very comical.

I agree with everything. You put it together so well! I used to like DL but then after season three, I disliked Lindsay more with every episode. Now I wish she would leave the series. It's true Lindsay uses Danny as a prop. He should be paired with a better actress who can bring out the best in him, like Jacqueline Pinol! They were beautiful together. I have high hopes Danny will be with Rikki in season five.
